Hamas terror operative Ali Said is being charged for extensive planning of terror attacks
Tamir Yaniv
A major charge was filed recently at the Samaria Military Court against Ali Said, a Hamas activist who is blind. Said has been serving an active prison term for the past eight years. During the period of this sentence he has tried to implement a number of terror attacks with the help of his wife, who mediated by various means – letters that contained coded messages, as well as the use of mobile devices, and others – between him and the outside world. This serious affair was exposed recently through the arrest of his wife by security forces.
Some time ago, Ali Said was sentenced for ten and a half years of imprisonment, for offenses relating to his involvement in a terrorist organization, planning terrorist attacks, and manufacturing and depositing explosives. The current investigation found that he was responsible for a number of attempts to harm Israeli civilians, following which the new indictment was filed. The Military Prosecution in Samaria indicted Said for planning a suicide attack, in 2001, on a bus full of soldiers in the Shavei Shomron area, and for organizing the transfer of funds for loading a vehicle with explosives.
The money was used for the purchase of four explosives weighing 60 kg each, which were inserted into a vehicle. At the same time a suicide bomber was recruited. The defendant received intelligence information on the bus time-table, and informed the suicide bomber, who entered the explosive laden vehicle hidden before. A look-out, who stayed at a position near the road, called the terrorist and informed him of the approaching bus, but due to a malfunction with the vehicle he was delayed and was only able to start the explosive laden vehicle as a bus carrying schoolchildren drove by. The explosion caused serious damage, but the children were not injured. After the attack, the terrorist organization took responsibility for the bombing in the media.
Said tried several more times to implement terrorist attacks, while under arrest, as stated before. For this purpose, he passed on coded messages hidden in groceries, which were handed to his wife when she came to visit him in prison. Mobile devices were also used similarly.
The responsible judge at the Samaria Military Court, Maj. Dalia Kaufman, ordered the arrest of the accused until the end of the proceedings, and stated: "I found that the current crimes of which the defendant is accused prove themselves the danger of the defendant's intensive and feverish activities for the purpose of initiating the implementation of terror attacks, and even organizing funding for the planned activities."
The stage of the trial during which evidence is disclosed, is expected to begin in April 2010.

On Tuesday evening, the Chief of the General Staff, Lt. Gen. Gabi Ashkenazi, during his visit to the United States, spoke at the annual dinner hosted by the Friends of the Israel Defense Forces (FIDF). “I am telling you from this stage: We will triumph over those who seek to destroy us. We will win thanks to the courage of our soldiers and their moral compass,” said Chief of the General Staff in his speech, at an event held at New York’s Waldorf Astoria Hotel.
In his speech, Lt. Gen Gabi Ashkenazi emphasized that “Iran was the main threat to world peace, and gradually attempting to harvest regional instability through its proxies: Hezbollah, Hamas and other terrorist organizations. Therefore the international community must stop the Iranian nuclear program for its own sake.
“All options should remain on the table. We are developing advanced weapons and technologies and increasing the number of military exercises and training, while raising reserve troops' readiness for war. We are doing this to be ready for any threat – from near and far,” he added.
Close cooperation between the IDF and the U.S.
On Tuesday morning (Mar. 9), the Chief of the General Staff attended several short work meetings in Washington, during which he met with senior officials at the White House, Senate and Pentagon including a meeting with National Security Advisor Jim Jones. In addition, he met with U.S. Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Admiral Michael Mullen, who recently visited Israel. The meeting lasted about an hour and a half, and focused on the Iranian threat.
During his speech at the FIDF dinner in New York, Lt. Gen. Ashkenazi referred to the close cooperation between the IDF and the U.S. army and noted that one example of our successful cooperation was the Juniper Cobra 10 – an exercise which tested the missile defense system collaboration. He continued by stating that “these steps reflect significant progress in expanding the dialogue, cooperation and readiness of the two armies.”

Guangzhou Police Kidnap Pastor Wang Dao
by Staff
March 8, 2010
GUANGDONG, China, (christiansunite.com) -- For more than two years, the Guangzhou police have harassed the house church believers of Liangren Church for their faith. In the boldest strike since last September, a mixed band of plain-clothed and uniformed PSB officers barged into the local restaurant at 3:20 PM on March 4, 2010, where Liangren Church Head Pastor Wang Dao was meeting with twelve brothers and sisters for a meal.
According to eye-witnesses in the restaurant, the policemen threw Pastor Wang violently to the ground, without showing their ID badges or any official documentation. They seized Pastor Wang and rushed him outside to a waiting vehicle, shoving him into the back seat as they tore off down the street. Pastor Wang's whereabouts are still unknown, and no one has been able to contact him since his forced departure.
Pastor Wang Dao has weathered severe persecution with fellow believers in Guangzhou since the church was founded in 2005. In 2008, the government banned Liangren Church, indicting them for holding "illegal religious organizations." Pastor Dao filed several appeals against the government ban and persisted in holding meetings with believers despite two rejections, several delays on appeal decisions and numerous other official attempts to disband the church permanently.
He was last interrogated for more than three hours on September 3, 2009, when officers questioned him about his involvement with the Chinese Christian Charter, a proclamation of faith signed and released on June 4, 2009, the 20th anniversary date of Tiananmen Square massacre.
