In response to rocket fire, the Israel Air Force struck two tunnels intended for terrorists infiltrating into Israel and executing terror attacks against civilians or IDF soldiers
In a joint IDF- ISA activity, The Israel Air Force struck two terror tunnels in the southern Gaza Strip and one terror tunnel in the northern Gaza Strip overnight. The tunnels were dug one kilometer from the security fence and were intended for infiltrating into Israel and executing terror attacks against Israeli civilians or IDF soldiers. Direct hits were identified.
The attack is in response to the two rockets that hit Israeli territory in the past two days, landing in the Eshkol Regional Council and the Hof Ashkelon Regional Council.
Approximately 50 rockets have landed in Israeli territory since the beginning of 2010, and over 330 rockets were fired from the Gaza Strip into Israel since the end of operation Cast Lead.

Case against 'homosexuality is sin' preacher dropped
by Nathan Black, Christian PostPosted: Tuesday, May 18, 2010, 8:37 (BST)
Charges have been dropped against a street preacher who was arrested for saying homosexuality is a sin.
After reviewing the evidence, crown prosecutors decided last week to discontinue the prosecution of Dale Mcalpine, as reported by the Christian Institute.
"It was a ridiculous charge, I should never have been arrested," the 42-year-old preacher said. "I’m relieved that they have seen sense."
Mcalpine was arrested in Workington, in Cumbria, last month while preaching to shoppers. He said he refrained from speaking about homosexuality in his sermon but when a passerby inquired on the issue, he told the person it was a sin.
He was then approached by a gay community support officer who took him to the police station where he was detained in a cell for seven hours and charged with causing "harassment, alarm or distress".
The Christian Institute released hidden camera footage of the arrest.
It shows an officer asking Mcalpine, "What have you been saying, homophobic wise?"
Mcalpine responds, saying that homophobia is hatred toward homosexuals and maintains that he is not homophobic.
The preacher goes on to insist to the officer, who is joined by three other officers, that he is not there to break any laws and contends that it is not against the law to say homosexual behaviour is a sin. But the officer quickly replies, saying there is a law prohibiting such speech.
"It's a breach of Section 5 of the Public Order Act," the officer says.
Mcalpine then says that he did not speak of homosexuality while preaching to the public. He only mentioned it when he was talking to one individual.
He adds, "Even so, you know, it still is not against the law."
He was then arrested.
Though the case was dropped, Mcalpine and the Christian Institute are weighing legal options to ensure that the incident doesn't happen again.
"It’s important that we have them to defend our religious liberties," he stated.
Christian Institute spokesman Simon Calvert commented, "Cumbria police can’t just walk away from this. They have arrested and charged an innocent man for no other reason than he peacefully expressed his religious beliefs.
"And it has happened in other parts of the country too. So there is clearly a problem with the system and it has to be put right."
Meanwhile, Chief Superintendent Steve Johnson, police commander for West Cumbria, said balancing the law and people's rights isn't easy, especially when opinions and interpretations differ.
While reassuring the public that they respect and are committed to upholding the fundamental right to freedom of expression, Johnson said they are just as committed to "maintaining the peace and preventing people feeling alarmed or distressed by the actions of others in public places".

Dalai Lama Brings False Peace on USA Tour
by Staff
May 17, 2010
MADISON, Wisc., (christiansunite.com) -- Despite thousands flocking to see the Dalai Lama during his current USA tour, the Dalai Lama brings false peace.
The Buddhist leader Dalai Lama was in Madison, Wisconsin on Sunday to promote the University of Wisconsin-Madison's opening of the Center for Investigating Healthy Minds.
The Center was created to investigate the making of healthy minds in children and adults. The founder of the Center is neuroscientist Richard Davidson.
The Dalai Lama is a Buddhist and claims to be the fourteenth reincarnation of his predecessors. He is the first Dalai Lama to travel West to promote Buddhist teachings. His worldwide approval rating is at 75% according to a recent French poll, which placed him right behind President Obama.
The Dalai Lama promotes reincarnation and has been looking for the reincarnation of his deceased brother who died in Indianapolis in 2008. After many reincarnations to eliminate human desire, Buddhists believe they will reach nirvana, a state of bliss in the afterlife.
On Sunday, the Dalai Lama talked about 'oneness,' a term used to promote pantheism, a belief that says everything is God. The Bible clearly denounces reincarnation and pantheism.
ChristianInvestigator.com believes that promoting religions in the disguise of false meditative techniques is a tool used to get people's focus off of their true problem.
The Bible says man's problem is his sin nature. In order to receive peace, a person has to be forgiven by Jesus Christ. Jesus does not remove the sin nature, but continually gives victory over it as Christians rely on Jesus Christ.
The Lord does talk about peace and meditation in the Bible, but not the types of meditation promoted by false religions endorsed by scientists.
ChristianInvestigator.com President Steve McConkey says, "Christians need to wake up to the fact that false belief systems are coming at a rapid rate. We should never replace the basics of the Bible with practices that are not backed up in the Bible as Satan comes as an angel of light. Also, Satan duplicates what God has outlined in the Bible."

IDC Simulation: "Iran: The Day After"
18 May 2010 , 13:45
Simulation involving previous high ranking officials, diplomats and academics conclude that Israel would show restraint during a Hezbollah attack if Iran has nuclear weapons.
Eduardo Missri
A nuclear Iran would effectively deter Israel from a disproportionate response after a long-range missile falls in the heart of Tel-Aviv, according to the conclusions of a simulation held at IDC Herzliya organized by the Lauder School of Government on Sunday (May 16).
The simulation “Iran: The Day After” was based on a similar event that took place in Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government which ended with Russia and China siding with Iran and a crisis developing between the United States and Israel.
The scenario simulated a Hezbollah attack in the center of Tel Aviv Ministry of Defense building in the Kyria Military Base. During this round, the participants, among them high ranking officials, academics and diplomats, were unable to mount a full military response even though discreet messages from Arab countries pushed Israel to go “all the way”.
Israel instead was restrained by the United States which after knowing that Hezbollah had slipped a dirty bomb to Hezbollah mounted a full international response with surprising support from many countries. The multinational force would go into Lebanon to secure the radioactive material and to implement resolution 1701 to disarm Hezbollah.
Retired Air Force Commander Eitan Ben-Eliahu said that “Iran deterrence proved dizzyingly effective.”
Moroever, former Israeli ambassador to the U.S., Zalman Shoval, led the Israeli team as Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu said that “This would be a very serious act of war with serious losses of life and would be seen this way by the public. As Prime Minister, I would call for the opposition to join an emergency coalition government and hold a conversation with the president of the U.S. We would expect the U.S. to make clear decisions in regard to an umbrella defense for us in the region.” He also added that Israel would wait to coordinate a response with the U.S.
“As far as the United States was concerned, Israel was trigger-happy. It sought to use the Hezbollah attack as a justification for what the United States was told would be an all-out war,” said Dan Kurtzer, former U.S. ambassador to Israel who played President Barack Obama.
Referring to the quick response to Hezbollah’s dirty bomb smuggled by Iran, Dan Kurtzer said that “In certain circumstances U.S. diplomacy can actually work in this region, and it ends up not only leaving Israel in check but it also ends up leading a more willing international coalition.”
Also in the event, Maj. Gen (res.) Zeevi Farkash participated as the Iranian Supreme leader Ali Khamenei and doubted that Iran would be hostile after achieving nuclear capability. “Iran would regard its bomb as a means of self-defense and strategic balance,” he said.
Tzipi Livni, the head of the opposition, attended the simulation as an observer. During the conclusions she said, “As leader of the free world, the United States has the responsibility of leading more effective sanctions that can turn around, absolutely, this shift from a process of stopping Iran to a process of acceptance.

The amazing friendship between the Shin Bet agent and his Hamas spy
The man who operated Mosab Yousef, the son of a West Bank Hamas strongman, discusses one of his most brilliant agents.
By Avi Issacharoff
A former Shin Bet security service coordinator who is being publicly identified only as "G." and earned the nickname "Captain Loai" in the Shin Bet, was a handler of Palestinian agents in the territories for almost eight years. Yesterday he spoke to Haaretz by phone from California from the apartment of none other than the man who was one of his most brilliant agents, Mosab Yousef, or the "Green Prince," as he was known. Yousef is the son of Hassan Yousef, once considered the head of Hamas in the West Bank.
Almost inconceivably, Mosab Yousef and G. became true friends after G. left the Shin Bet. The amazing story of the friendship between the agent and the handler, whose father is a reserve brigadier general in the Israel Defense Forces, will appear in full in tomorrow's Haaretz Magazine. In advance of the publication of the story, Captain Loai, 39, and a resident of the center of the country, who is married with two children, paid a visit to his friend Mosab in the United States.
The saga of Mosab Yousef, the Green Prince, was published about three months ago in Haaretz in advance of the release in the United States of his book (written with Ron Brackin ), "Son of Hamas." It is the story of the transformation of the oldest son of Sheikh Yousef into one of the Shin Bet's most important agents within Hamas. Throughout the book, the figure of Captain Loai features as Mossab's dominant handler and confidant.
In 2005, following Captain Loai's entanglement in a case involving the handling of funds, proceedings were initiated to have him dismissed from the Shin Bet and a year later he was officially out of the security service. In his Haaretz interview, G. says the only one who stood by him at the time and actually supported his version of events was Mosab Yousef. G. said his dismissal was related to efforts that he and Yousef made together to establish contact with a new intelligence source. "Something in my acquaintanceship with Mosab diverted me from the path I had chosen," he said.
G. hasn't been in the Shin Bet for four years, but says that something in him still seems to miss the days in which he hunted wanted suspects in Ramallah, and perhaps also the days and nights he spent with Yousef.
For almost seven years, Yousef had supplied G. with reliable information about what was happening within the Hamas leadership, including its plans to carry out suicide bombings or the location of wanted terrorists. Together the pair prevented dozens of terrorist attacks, including a plot to assassinate senior Israeli officials, including President Shimon Peres and former chief rabbi Ovadia Yosef.
The pair lost contact with each another, but G. learned of the whereabouts of the "Green Prince" when an article about him appeared in Haaretz in 2008. G. immediately re-established contact with Yousef in an e-mail in which he offered to help the "Green Prince." He concluded the e-mail: "Let your brother have the honor to help. Yours with love, G. (Luai )."

Somali Christian executed by Muslims
(christiansunite.com) - Three Islamic al-Shabaab rebels killed a Christian man in front of his home in Afgoye, Somalia on March 23. The men shot Mu'awiye Hilowle Ali at close range, hitting his head and chest and killing him instantly.
Islamists had previously accused Mu'awiye and his family of spreading "fitna" -- an Arabic word for religious discord. Trained in the former Soviet Union, Mu'awiye had served in the Somali armed forces. He converted to Christianity in 2006. Members of al-Shabaab refused to allow Mu'awiye's body to be buried in a public graveyard, calling it Muslim territory.
As a result, he has been temporarily buried in the compound of his home. He is survived by his wife and 10 children. In response to the tragedy, a Somali church leader in Mogadishu said, " martyrdom will only strengthen the Somali church and that such violence will never succeed in stopping the church planting movement we see in Somalia today."

Hunger for Bibles 'growing' in China
The church is growing in China and with it the demand for Bibles, visitors to this year's international Christian Resources Exhibition heard yesterday. The head of Bible Society's China Partnership programme, Kua Wee Seng, said that Amity Printing Press, the only government-approved Bible printer in China, was struggling to keep up with demand. Although the number of Bibles being printed for distribution in China rose to four million last year, Kua said even more Bibles were needed to meet the needs of the estimated 500,000 people turning to Christ in the communist nation each year. He urged Christians in the West to support Bible Society's 2010 campaign to raise funds for a new printing press to increase the number of Bibles being printed for the Chinese market to 12 million. Kua said that financial and practical help from Christians outside of China had made Bible printing there possible, most notably through the shipment of tonnes of Bible paper. Now that China is producing its own Bible paper.

The Christians among the Conservatives
by Wesley WJ RichardsPosted: Sunday, May 16, 2010, 15:51 (BST)
Of the 143 new Conservative MPs, twelve are members of the Christian Conservative Fellowship (CCF).
Representing 8% of the new intake, the twelve were part of a group of 37 candidates who were supported in their campaign by the CCF.
According to research by The Sunday Times, 23% of the new intake are women, 6% are from ethnic minority backgrounds — with 2% black and 4% Asian — while gays make up 3%.
CCF member Robert Halfon, a former Chief of Staff to Oliver Letwin, overturned his 2005 defeat in Harlow to unseat Armed Forces Minister, Bill Rammell, through a 5.9% swing to the Conservatives. Rammell, who was involved in the release of Lockerbie bomber, Ali al-Megrahi, had the third smallest majority of any Labour MP, at just 97 votes.
Liberal Democrat spokesman for science, Dr Evan Harris, lost his Oxford West & Abingdon seat by 176 votes to Nicola Blackwood. Harris, first elected in 1997, had been outspoken in his support for euthanasia and abortion, earning him the nickname ‘Dr Death.’
Blackwood, a Cambridge graduate, is concerned ‘that the voice of Christians and people of other faiths on key issues of conscience is too readily dismissed in public debate,’ according to the CCF.
In Congleton, Fiona Bruce was one of 38 from the party’s 100 ‘A-list’ of candidates elected. She is a national winner of the Business Woman of the Year Award "Women into Business".
Stephen Metcalfe won South Basildon and East Thurrock after beating Labour MP, Angela Smith. In 2009 Smith was one of the MPs whose expenses were highlighted by The Daily Telegraph during the Parliamentary expenses scandal, after submitting claims for four beds for a one bedroom flat in London.
Two candidates secured a swing of more than 10% to win their seats, Jessica Lee taking Erewash and Derek Thomas, St Ives.
Elsewhere: Nicky Morgan won Loughborough; Amber Rudd, Hastings; Councillor Martin Vickers, Cleethorpes; John Glen, Salisbury; Steven Baker, Wycombe; Jeremy Lefroy gained a seat in Stafford, through a 7.4% swing from Labour
CCF members include voters, Councillors, MPs, and Peers who aim to provide a link between the Conservative Party and the Christian community.
Founded in 1990 by Tim Montgomerie and David Burrowes, while they were students at Exeter University, the CCF is an interdenominational fellowship, which holds prayer as the foundation for all its activities.
Burrowes, who is Chairman of the CCF, was elected to Parliament in 2005 for Enfield and Southgate after ousting Stephen Twigg. Montgomerie is now an influential Conservative commentator and blogger.

MANASSAS, Va., (christiansunite.com) -- An Internet poll sponsored by Richard A. Viguerie, Chairman of ConservativeHQ.com, in conjunction with his recent article, "From an old- school conservative, advice for the tea party," online at tinyurl.com/23e7zf5, showed overwhelming opposition to a conversion of the Tea Party movement into a political party.
The poll of 736 respondents showed only 11.8% thought the Tea Party should become a political party.
President Obama is considered to be an extreme left wing radical by almost 92% of the poll respondents, with 46.5% labeling him a Marxist and 45.3% a socialist. Only 4.3% thought he was a liberal.
More than 70% considered themselves part of the Tea Party movement, and an additional 17% were conservatives but did not identify with the Tea Party cause. Eight percent said they were libertarians and 4.5% opted for "none of the above."
Viguerie said the results were significant because it showed conservatives were not interested in splitting their votes.
"Republicans lost three Senate seats in 2008 -- Ted Stevens in Alaska, Norm Coleman in Minnesota, and Gordon Smith in Oregon -- and two seats in 2006 -- Jim Talent in Missouri and Conrad Burns in Montana -- because of conservative third-party candidates. If these five senators were still in office, there probably would have been no Stimulus Bill and no Obamacare. Conservative third parties almost certainly made these liberal legislative victories possible," he said.
In looking back on the Bush Administration and the Republican-controlled Congress, more than 77% said many conservative leaders got too close to the GOP and lost their independence and effectiveness. Only 13.5% disagreed.
